Calgary is the third largest civic municipality, by population, in Canada, the largest between Vancouver and Toronto. As of the 2008 civic census, Calgary’s population was 1,042,892. Calgary also happens to be Canada’s second largest head office city, second only to Toronto. Alberta is the most westerly of Canada´s three prairie provinces, and joined Canada as a province in 1905.
